ppointment of elections of members of the Council of the Republic Elections of members of the Council of the Republic of a new convocation are called by the President of the Republic of Belarus no later than three months before the single voting day and are held, as a rule, on the same day no later than 40 days after the single voting day. From each region and the city of Minsk, eight members of the Council of the Republic are elected by secret ballot at meetings of deputies of local Councils of Deputies of the basic level of each region and the city of Minsk. In case of early termination of the powers of the Council of the Republic, extraordinary elections are held within three months from the date of early termination of the powers of the chamber, which are appointed by the President of the Republic of Belarus. In the event of the dissolution of the Council of the Republic, the newly elected composition of the Council of the Republic shall exercise its powers until the beginning of the powers of the Council of the Republic of the new convocation. The message about the date of the elections is made public (published) in the media and posted on the official website of the Central Commission on the Internet the next day after the elections are called.
