Status and authority of Parliament 1. The Parliament of Georgia is the supreme representative body of the country that exercises legislative power, defines the main directions of the country’s domestic and foreign policies, controls the activities of the Government within the scope established by the Constitution, and exercises other powers. 2. The procedures for the functioning of Parliament shall be determined by the Rules of Procedure of Parliament, which is adopted by a majority of the total number of the Members of Parliament based on the initiative of a member, a committee or a faction of Parliament. The Rules of Procedure shall have the force of law and shall be signed and promulgated by the Chairperson of Parliament.
