Main Objectives and Functions of the Central Bank

1. The national bank of the Republic of Armenia shall be the Central Bank. The

Central Bank shall be independent when performing the functions vested therein by

the Constitution and law.

2. The main objective of the Central Bank is to ensure price and financial stability.

3. The Central Bank shall develop, approve and implement monetary policy

programmes.

4. The Central Bank shall issue the currency of the Republic of Armenia — the

Armenian Dram.

5. The Central Bank shall adopt secondary regulatory legal acts in the cases and

under the procedure prescribed by law.

6. The Central Bank shall submit to the National Assembly an annual communication

on its activities.

7. Other objectives, tasks, rules of operation and guarantees for the activities of the

Central Bank shall be prescribed by law.
