§ Ind. Code § 3-12-5-9Candidates for United States Senator and United States Representative; tabulation of votes cast for each candidate; certificates of election

(a) Upon receipt of the certified statements from the circuit court clerks under
section 6 of this chapter, the election division shall:
(1) tabulate the number of votes cast for each candidate for United States Senator and
United States Representative; and
(2) prepare a certificate of election for the secretary of state to transmit to:
(A) the governor for signature and certification to the secretary of the United States
Senate, setting forth the name of the candidate receiving the highest number of votes
for the office of United States Senator, in the manner required by 2 U.S.C. 1; and
(B) the clerk of the United States House of Representatives, setting forth the name
of each candidate receiving the highest number of votes for United States
Representative, in the manner required by 2 U.S.C. 26.
(b) The secretary of state shall promptly execute the certificate prepared under subsection
(a)(2)(A) and transmit the certificate to the governor. The governor shall promptly execute
the certificate and transmit the certificate to the election division for attestation by the
secretary of state and transmission to the secretary of the United States Senate.
(c) The secretary of state shall promptly execute the certificate prepared under subsection
(a)(2)(B) and transmit the certificate to the clerk of the United States House of
Representatives.
