(a) This section applies to a political party: (1) not qualified to conduct a primary election under IC 3-10; and (2) not required to nominate candidates by a petition of nomination under IC 3-8-6. (b) An individual who desires to be nominated for a town office by the political party must file a declaration of candidacy in the same manner as a candidate for nomination by a major political party under section 10.5 of this chapter. If a convention would be required for the political party under section 10 of this chapter, the political party shall conduct a convention to nominate candidates for town office not later than the date for conducting a
