48A.20 Prohibited acts by voter registration agency employees. A person who provides voter registration services as required by this subchapter shall not: 1. Seek to influence an applicant’s political preference or party registration. 2. Display a political preference or party affiliation. 3. Make any statement to an applicant or take any action which has the purpose or effect of discouraging the applicant from registering to vote. 4. Make any statement to an applicant or take any action which has the purpose or effect of leading the applicant to believe that a decision to register or not to register to vote has any bearing on the availability of services or benefits.
