1 Where the proceedings at any polling station are interrupted or obstructed by riot or open violence, the presiding officer shall adjourn the proceedings till the following day and shall forthwith give notice to the returning officer. 2 Where the poll is adjourned at any polling station— a the hours of polling on the day to which it is adjourned shall be the same as for the original day; and b references in this Act to the close of the poll shall be construed accordingly.
