(1) The new President of the Republic elected in a regular election assumes office by swearing the oath of office at the first sitting of the Riigikogu following the day of the end of the term of office of the President of the Republic. (2) The new President of the Republic elected in an extraordinary election assumes office by swearing the oath of office at the first sitting of the Riigikogu following the day of the election of the President of the Republic.
