Special conditions for submission of applications by political parties and
electoral blocs
(1) The number of candidates on the lists must contain at least 1/2 of the number of
mandates foreseen for the constituency concerned and a maximum of seven alternate
candidates.
(2) The lists of candidates shall be drawn up and/or amended in accordance with Article
68 (3).
(3) Failure to comply with the conditions laid down in paragraphs (1) to (2) shall entail
refusal by the electoral body concerned to register the lists of candidates.
(4) Political parties and electoral blocks may propose only one candidate for the office
of mayor in each electoral constituency. A person may not stand as a candidate in more than
one constituency of the same level.
(5) A person may apply for the position of councillor both to the council of the first-level
administrative-territorial unit of the Republic of Moldova and to the council of the second-level
administrative-territorial unit. A person may also stand as mayor and local councillor, but may
not stand for these positions in more than one electoral constituency of the same level.
