(1) If satisfied that aperson’sapplicationforregistration complies with this Act, the chief electoral officer must register that person as a voter by making the requisite entries in thevoters’ roll. (2) The chiefelectoral officer may not register a person as a voter if that person( a ) has applied for registrationfraudulently or otherwisethan in the prescribed manner; ( b ) is notaSouth African citizen; (c) has been declared by the High Court to be of unsound mind or mentally disordered; (6) is detained under the Mental Health Act, 1973 (Act No. 18 of 1973); or ( e ) is not ordinarily resident in the voting district for which that person has applied for registration. (3) A person’s name may not be entered in the voters’ roll for more than one voting district.
