§ Electoral Act s. 7Applications for registration as voter

(1) A person applying for registration as a
voter must do so( a ) in the prescribedmanner; and
(6) only for the voting district in which that person is ordinarily resident.
(2) For the purposes of this section the head office in the Republic of a person referred
to in section 33 (1) (a) (ii) is regarded as the ordinary place of residence of that person or a
member of that person’s household.
( 3 ) ( a ) A person is regarded to be ordinarily resident at the home or pla.ce where that
person normally lives and to which that person regularly returns after any period of temporary
absence.
(6) For the purpose of registration on the voters’ roll a person is not regarded to be
ordinarily resident at a place where that person is lawfully imprisoned or detained, but at the
last home or placewhere that person normallylived when not imprisoned or detained.
