Short title; citation
A. Title 18 shall constitute and be known as the "Louisiana Election Code", and its Chapters, Parts,
Subparts, and Sections may be cited officially as Chapters, Parts, and Sections of either the Louisiana
Election Code or Title 18 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950. In the latter case, the Sections shall be
cited in the manner provided in R.S. 1:1.
B. The Louisiana Election Code shall regulate the conduct of elections and political subdivisions shall
be prohibited from adopting any law, resolution, or ordinance relative to elections and the conduct thereof,
including campaign finance, except as otherwise specifically authorized in this code.
