§ 168.292State board of education and boards of state universities; vacancy, creation,

 Sec. 292.
    There shall be a vacancy on the state board of education, the board of regents of the
 University of Michigan, the board of trustees of Michigan State University, or the board of
 governors of Wayne State University upon the happening of any of the following events:
 Death of the incumbent; his resignation; his removal from office for cause; his ceasing to be a
 resident of the state; his conviction of an infamous crime, or an offense involving the violation
 of his oath of office; the decision of a competent tribunal declaring his election or appointment
 void; or his neglect or refusal to take and subscribe to the constitutional oath of office and
 deposit the same in the manner and within the time prescribed by law. When a vacancy shall
 occur on any of the said boards, a notice of such vacancy and the reason why the same exists
 shall, within 10 days after such vacancy occurs, be given in writing to the governor. Such
 notice shall be given by the secretary of state.
