Sec. 287.
The board of state canvassers shall determine which candidates for membership on the state
board of education, the board of regents of the University of Michigan, the board of trustees of
Michigan State University and the board of governors of Wayne State University have
received the greatest number of votes and shall declare such candidates to be duly elected. The
said board shall forthwith make and subscribe on its statement of returns a certificate of such
