Conditions for passing a proposition in a referendum. In order for a question or proposition put to a referendum to be deemed to have passed, it must receive the majority of valid votes in the referendum, cf. paragraph 2 of Article 104. If there are more than one answer option on the ballot paper, the proportions of votes shall be calculated based on the total number of voters expressing a preference on each individual question. If approval is rejected in a referendum under Article 26 of the Constitution, the National Electoral Commission shall also publish a separate notice to that effect in Section A of the Government Gazette no later than two days after the referendum result becomes known. The result of a referendum under paragraph 2 of Article 2 is advisory.
