Death of a presidential candidate.
In the event of the death of a presidential candidate before the election takes place, but after
the expiry of the deadline for submitting candidatures, another presidential candidate may
stand for election instead of the deceased if at least one-half of the deceased’s nomination
subscribers are among the new candidate’s nomination subscribers. The National Electoral
Commission shall otherwise decide whether to postpone an election because of the death of a
presidential candidate and prepare the election anew.
