Decisions on eligibility to stand for election. It shall not be necessary to demonstrate to senior electoral commissions or the National Electoral Commission candidates’ eligibility to stand for election, as the Althingi rules on the eligibility of those elected and on whether newly-elected MPs stood and were elected lawfully in other respects. The senior electoral commission of a municipality shall rule on the eligibility of candidates to stand in municipal elections. Its rulings may be appealed to the Election Appeal Committee, which shall make its ruling as soon as possible and no later than seven days after receipt of the complaint.
