§ Art. 43Death of a candidate

Death of a candidate.
In the event of the death of a candidate before the election takes place, but after the
deadline for submitting candidatures expires, the National Electoral Commission in the case
of elections to the Althingi, and the senior electoral commission of a municipality in the case
of municipal elections, shall move the candidates ranking beneath the deceased up by one
position. If possible, the list thus amended shall be publicised in accordance with Article 47.
