Deadline for submitting candidatures and receipt of candidatures. When elections are to be held, all candidatures must be submitted no later than at 12 noon 36 days before polling day. Such notifications may be signed by hand or by a fully valid electronic signature. The National Electoral Commission receives submissions of candidatures for elections to the Althingi, whereas the senior electoral commissions of municipalities receive those for municipal elections.
