Elections to the Althingi. Regular general elections to the Althingi shall be held no later than at the end of the electoral term. The beginning and end of an electoral term shall be on the same weekday of the month, counting from the beginning of the month. The National Electoral Commission shall publicise when regular general elections to the Althingi are to be held. The electoral term shall be four years. If the Althingi is dissolved, parliamentary elections shall be held on the date when the dissolution takes effect.
