§ 169.268Debt limitation; violation; penalty; prohibitions

Sec. 68.
    (1) A debt for goods, services, materials, facilities, or anything of value in furtherance of, or
 in opposition to, the nomination for, or election to, office of a candidate shall not be incurred
 by a person which, when paid, will cause the expenditures of that candidate or person to
 exceed any limit imposed by this act. A person who knowingly violates this subsection is
 guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or
 imprisoned for not more than 90 days, or both.
    (2) If a person who is subject to this section is found guilty, the circuit court of that county,
 on application by the attorney general, may prohibit that person from assuming the duties of a
 public office or from receiving compensation from public funds, or both.
